"0": "LEXICON OF FLORA AND FAUNA, VOL. II\nby Dozan The Falling Leaf, Arch-Druid, Master of Greengrove, The Dragon of Chauntea, Aidbringer.\n\nThis is a bestiary of the flora and fauna of the area known as Talkash, The Great Border Forest in the Middle Lands. The information in these tomes has been gathered through extensive and dangerous travels in all the areas described.\n\nAll the lands described are unsafe for the average traveler.\n\nTo the best of my knowledge the information is correct.\n\nTHE BEASTS OF TALKASH:\nTalkash Stalkers\nType: Magical Beast \nDescription: These feline predators hunt in packs. The first thing you will notice is their cold breath, which is not that dangerous if you come prepared. They have excellent vision and can spot even invisible opponents and they are, of course, immune to cold.\n\nFlame Fiends \nType: Evil Outsider\nDescription: These creatures have an eerie sense of fear about them. They attack with their talons, which, due to their internal heat, leaves the flesh scorched and burned. As the name suggests they are immune to fire and fear the touch of cold. When killed their hearts turn into a precious fire opal. \n\nTalkash Spider \nType: Insect \nDescription: Descendants from Thex A'vi, but their blood is thinned to a degree that they cannot be considered anything but ordinary spiders. They are not particularly resistant to weapons or magic, but huge spiders are dangerous in their own right and they have a nasty poison. Like all the other descendants of Thex A'vi their brains are useful as components in potions. Beware of the Dread Spider lurking among them. \n\nTalkash Storm Beetle \nType: Insect \nDescription: This is a weaker cousin to the fearsome Talos Beetle (see vol. III). It is a lot less powerful and it can also withstand less punishment. It is immune to electricity. The throat is a component of minor use in the arcane arts.\n\nTalkash Beetle Herder \nType: Magical Beast \nDescriptiom: These sorcerers are capable of casting chain lightning, improved invisibility and other spells. They employ basically the same tactics as Talos Beetle Herders (see vol. III), except their spellcasting capabilities are limited. \n\nTalkash Dreadspiders \nType: Insect \nDescription: Preferring to lie in ambush in the treetops of the mighty trees, they can sneak up on the unwary traveler. They are not immune to any form of energy damage, and deal none themselves. They do have a nasty poisonous bite and are very strong. Combined with their great numbers they are a threat to even the most experienced adventurer. \n\nThex A'vi Spawn \nType: Evil Outsider \nDescription: Also Known as Hellspawn, these fearsome demon spiders are all the children of Thex A'vi, the Chosen of Lloth. As all demons they are immune to electricity and acid. They are also resistant to cold. As spiders they are immune to all forms of entanglement and other effects hindering movement, including most if not all Bigby spells. Their sight is almost perfect, making them able to detect invisible opponents easily. For reasons unknown, but perhaps related to the nature of Thex A'vi herself, these spiders seem to be immune to death magic. The spawns have brains that, once identified, can be used to cast mass haste. It is also worth a small fortune. \n\nSpawn Overseer \nType: Evil outsider \nDescription: The seers, as they are called, resemble small beholder-like spheres. They are only moderately dangerous in melee, but favor ranged combat. The most feared attack of these monsters is their ability to knockdown at a range. This attack is almost impossible to defend against and will make you easy prey for any Hellspawn nearby. Since they have the ability to cast heal, it is usually the best strategy to petrify them. \n\nWrathful Servant \nType: Construct \nDescription: These Golems are an enigma. They guard an area in Hellspawn Pines against all but the Hellspawns and Seers. They might be a legacy from before the demons came. The clerics of Chauntea, blessed be Her name, are known to have created Golems elsewhere in the Inner Realms. If that is the case, these Golems was created by an art that is now unknown. They are completely immune to physical damage and spells and can only be defeated using weapons dealing energy damage. Even then they will reform in a short time. As all Golems they are immune to critical hits and sneak attacks.\n\nDaemons/Daemonesses \nType: Evil Outsiders \nDescription: If ever there was a monster you should fear, then this is it. The females can cast the epic Greater Ruin spell. They also have a tactic of using Issac's Greater Missile Storm, to great effect I might add. One gender is completely immune to physical damage and the other to energy damage. I regret to say that I know little more of them, but I have only fought them on few occasions and never with much success.\n\nThex A'vi. \nType: Evil Outsider\nDescription: No one I know have ever met this creature and thus very little is known of her. In fact the only reason to believe it is female, is because the Chosen of Lloth almost always are. What little we know about Thex A'vi comes from a book in the Balder Library. Allegedly it is the story of an adventurer who escaped as the only survivor of his party. According to him the monster wears an artifact created by Lloth herself, known as The Crown of Thex A'vi.\n"
