"0": "It is odd, how some stories are remembered and told, even though all logic tells us that they should have be long forgotten. And it is strange, how we mortals at times become tools for powers far beyond our understanding, which inspire us with the knowledge of these stories, perhaps find the seed to divinity.\n\nThe story I am about to pass on to you, is precisely one such story, that by all logic should have been long lost. And I am one such author, who received the inspiration to write a story I never knew took place. And so, behold my reader, the terror, tragedy, and perhaps even hope, that is the story of the Hamlet of Dezban.\n\nHe, Beorn Aradir, was a magnificent commander of the Steel of Balance during the Great War. Riding on his war steed, always leading the attack, his charges became legendary amongst knights as well as foes. Even the foul illusion magics, that the troopers of the Frostmaiden tried to use in order to lure him into traps or away from key personnel, was ineffectual, and time and time again, he and his loyal outriders charged into the ranks of the enemy, defeating vital enemy commanders, spellcasters, and healers. None, it would appear, were safe from the wrath of Beorn and his outriders.\n\nAs is often the case with such victories, they make even great men blind to the dangers around them, and in his unwavering belief in his cause and in the just powers of himself and his men, that no illusions and trickery could ever best him, he fell to the simplest of traps one could ever set for a commander such as himself - a mighty challenge!\n\nMost men would have taken pause, to consider the power of the mighty elemental the Frostmaiden presented on the field of battle, and most would have designed a strategy before rushing in. For where others saw only an unusually small Wolfen, Beorn saw the Frostmaiden's Wrath, and the mighty elemental gestured for him to approach alone, as it stood all by itself!\n\nSad as it may be; the loss of a great and noble commander, he was but the casualty of his own success, he thereby fell to the gruesome wrath of the Gods, when men; knowingly or not, oppose their divine will or belittle their victory!\n\nThe news of Beorn Aradir's death, was not completely unexpected by his family and friends at home, but the morning nevertheless felt more empty after they received the news. And so, to honor their great commander, they started to create a grand statue of their hero and inspiration on the center square of their home - the Hamlet of Dezban. On the final night of its construction, the villagers sang out their praise, to not Chauntea, but to their own hero Beorn, and told great tales of how he foiled the might of the Frostmaiden, and brought great honor to their hamlet.\n\nAlas, for in their ignorance, they spoke out the name of the Frostmaiden in their songs, and thereby invoked her terrible wrath. When traveling merchants arrived at the village the next day, they could only look upon the site in disbelief. The entire area surrounding the hamlet was ripped out of the lands, leaving nothing but a grand crater in its stead. And in the middle of that crater, hovered the illusion of a mighty crystal ball showing the village inside a huge ice cave, with the streets filled with ravenous Yeti tearing at the villagers, dragging them wounded and battered to a mighty elemental standing before the very statue of Beorn, where it crushed them one by one.\n\nIn my dreams, I saw this place, and in my dreams, I heard the screams of the villagers. Their torment is long gone, but I saw that this place existed still, and that the very same elemental and its loyal Yeti holds the city captive for all time. And in my mind, I heard a divine voice issuing the following command to me:\n\n\"Let the Inner Realms know what once took place here. For while the hamlet forgot me in their pride of their hero, their punishment was way much too harsh. And Beorn shall no longer wander my halls unanvenged. Inspire great heroes to find the Hamlet, and claim the Truth, that it might once again serve the forces of light against the darkness. So sayeth I, Chauntea!\"\n\n - Hymion the Bard."
