"0": "Contact...contact with some very powerful in the desert had been made. Through the mirror smooth surface of his scrying pool Vermathrax watched three interlopers fight his minions. They were powerful enough but, a single disciple ran them ragged and could have easily killed them had he been ordered to do so. As it was, he made them twist on the wind like a fish caught on a hook. They couldn't run from him, they couldn't catch him, they couldn't fight him nor defeat him with the hit and run tactics. They split up, let themselves get parted from one another and all that had to be done to evade them was a simple invisibility spell, if that.\n\nAs Vermathrax watched, he communicated telepathically with his disciple to lessen his tactics and spells. To limit himself till finally, he was struck down by a lucky blow to his back by the paladin's huge blade. Vermathrax had learned much from this. He knew the power of the mortals was as he believed, weak, pathetic and they would be easily overcome. Now, he turned his attentions to the war of the Immortals, watching the vampires and the lycanthropes fight. He smiled as he saw they were not much stronger then the mortals the called food. The wisdom and power of thier blood seemed...almost wasted now on these creatures. Only a handful on both sides were still pure blooded and had any chance against his forces.\n\nAnd within both of thier legions he had already found those willing to sell out thier kind for a price. To gain power and position or ancient knowledge in exchange for spying for him, giving him information he wanted and possibly more. He looked down to his chief lich and motioned to two vials of blood he had aquired from one of the vampires. A few powerful scrolls for a few vials of blood, elven blood. The fool thought he had made a bargin nearing theft for the scraps of paper when in fact, he had given another piece of the key to him.\n\nThe lich took the vials and set them into the mechanism then activated the runes on it. Magical energy sparked and swirled about the vials and one glowed red, the other blue. The lich turned back and bowed as its master smiled.\n\n'It is as you thought master and more. The blood is pure and powerful in one, the other has even the quality of vampirism still within it.'\n\n'To which one of the female elves does that sample belong?'\n\n'To the one the vampire called Lady Tass Master.'\n\nVermathrax thought for a moment then looked back to the scrying pool, refocusing it on the three in the desert and listened again. It was as he thought, he heard the paladin refer to the female elf as Lady Tass. He focused on her, marking her well, then summoned his Djinn, sending him to the three with a message. For now, he would simply enjoy the show from his testing of these people.\n\nNow he only needed some lycanthrope blood and a few of the mortal races easy enough to locate and to bait the trap with the proper bait.\n\nAnd as he sat watching the pool, he had a good idea what bait to use...."
