"0": "Vinni moved to Riverthrow with his 'ma when he was just 4 years old. He has no memory of their life before that, and his mother has always refused to talk about it. All he knows of his father is his name: Jericho Crainte. His only other knowledge of his father is an engraved ring he found burried in a dusty old chest in the attic of his house. A dark blue stone on top with his initial etched in, while the band had inscribed \"The Brotherhood\" inside. Vinni did not know what power it possessed when he took it, and kept it hidden until he left home.\n\nHis mother, Misha has worked at the local inn as a cook ever since they came there.\n\nVinni's most distinguishing feature is his height, at only 4 foot 7 inches most would agree with this observation. \"Self-awareness\" of this came at a young age too. At only six, he was asking why the 3 year olds were bigger than him. Vinni developed his own \"defense mechanisms\" for dealing with the taunting and ridicule. Mostly by making fun of himself, or turning every \"episode\" into a joke of some kind. The more this worked, the more Vinni made himself out to be a \"clown\". He loved the attention, not to mention it saved his hide more times than he could count. Many taunted him that he had \"half-ling blood\" in his family tree, and without a father he could never prove otherwise. His mother always denied such accusations, but would offer no other information.\n\nAdding further to his being \"different\" Vinni took to outlandish hair styles and unusual clothing. On a deeper level though, Vinni couldn't shake the feeling that he was \"inferior\" to others, and much of his wit tended towards the sarcastic and self-depreciating side of humor. It also prevented him from building any real close relationships with his peers, always keeping some distance in the few friendships he did make. All but one that is. His one true friend and confidant, Ursa Desandenbach, who knew Vinni's true \"self\". Always there for him, she was quick to defend her friend when the taunting and ridicule began to turn, well.... darker.\n\nHe and his best friend Ursa also spent many a long hour with that crazy old man, Vanthar. His stories of adventures big and small, held them captivated time and again. Vanthar never once ridiculed Vinni, or questioned his heritage. Over the years Vinni actually came to think of Vanthar as the father he never had. Of course, with the rest of the village thinking Vanthar a crazy old hermit, who made up all these wild stories, only added further to Vinni's \"outsider\" status. Whether true or false, Vinni and Ursa ate up every word at face value.\n\nAt 17 he took to the road, to seek his fortune in the entertaiment world. Things went very well for a time. Vinni travelled many towns, and drew ever larger crowds to hear his humorous tales. Vinni's ambition soon caught up with him though. He dreamed of being the personal entertainer in the King's court in Baldur's gate. By a strange twist of fate, he got his chance. Through a friend, he heard the current entertainment director had fallen very ill. Thinking the situation hopeless, and a major social event on the horizon - the good King held auditions in the very tavern Vinni was staying in. Completely delighted with his performance, he commissioned Vinni right on the spot. \n\nAs fate would have it though, the \"original\" fellow started to recover. Vinni thought this was bad news for him, and if he could just keep the fellow out of commission until AFTER the big soiree, he would have it made! Paying off the royal cook, Vinni had the man midly poisoned. In his weakened state though, he took a major turn for the worse, and died! Overcome with guilt, the cook confessed what had happened. He was beheaded the next day at sunrise. Before they could catch up with Vinni though, his meager belongings were packed - and he was on the road.....\n\nNow 22 years old, he travels from place to place, trying to get by as best he can. With a bounty on his head, he sticks to the shadowy underworld, afraid to go anywhere he might be recognized. Here he has learned to \"survive\" by other means than stage performances. He was in fact, far more famous in his own mind than in reality, and so has come to fear he will be \"recognized\" almost anywhere. \n\nVery recently he has heard rumors from Riverthrow, that his old mentor Vanthar has died! Vinni decides he must make his way home to pay his last respects. He is terrified that people there will recognize him though, and turn him in for the the bounty. A disguise, thats what he needs!... And perhaps his old pal Ursa will be there too?\n_____________________________\n\nBack in Riverthrow: people there have heard some very minor rumors about Vinni. No one really cares. There is even one small bounty poster nailed up in the town hall, burried and barely noticable amoung the other \"hardened criminals\" for a 25 gold coin reward on him. "
