D&D Geek's Minotaur models
NOTE: this readme assumes you know very little about the toolset and how to edit custom content. If you are familiar with the toolset, then all you probably need to know is where to find the models. They are listed as "Minotaur_PC1" or "Minotaur_PC2" from the Apperance drop down box.

*** Custom Minotaurs in your module ***

Ok, in order to use this hak, all you need to do is create a module and add it in. No certain version of NWN or SoU is required. If you don't know how to add a hak file to a module, here are the steps:
Create a new module (or open an existing one)
From the pulldown menu, choose Edit and Module Properties.
Click on Custom Content
Select the hak file you want from the drop down box (in this case "Geeks_Minotaurs.hak"), and hit add.
VERY IMPORTANT - the NWN toolset caches information. Any time you include or remove a hak file from a module, you should save the changes and then exit completely out of the toolset. Re-open the toolset, then re-open the module. This will ensure you have the latest changes. Also, when working on different modules, it's a good idea to exit/re-enter the toolset. This is a MUST if the modules you are working on have hak files associated with them.

Once you have the module loaded and have restarted the toolset, you can easily create a minotaur based on this hak by using the creature wizard. Click on Wizards, then Creature Wizard. Click Next, Choose "Monstrous" then Next and Next again. When you get to the Appearance and Portrait page, choose "Minotaur_PC1" or "Minotaur_PC2" from the Apperance drop down box. Continue thru the wizard making neccessary changes. At the last page (the Finish page), check the Launch Creature Properties box.

** Minotaur_PC1 **

For Minotaur_PC1, you should see the minotaur model with a basic skin tone, click on the Apperance tab and then the Color button to adjust colors as you want.

Colors are adjusted as follows:
Skin = skin
Hair = horn color
Tattoo 1 = eye color
Tattoo 2 = hoof color

In armor color settings:
Cloth 2 = tip of tail color

You can also equip this model with armor by clicking on the Inventory button and choosing the options you want, keeping the following in mind.

When using armor, you may want to set the following to 000 in the armor appearance settings: Hands (R & L), Feet, Pelvis, Neck and Belt.
Applying a piece of armor to these areas could look odd.

As a side note, I also suggest you use 000 for the Thighs and Biceps as well.

** Minotaur_PC2 **

For Minotaur_PC2, you should see the minotaur model with the general look of a standard minotaur. You can apply any armor and weapons you want to the model. Note: Biceps, hands, feet, thighs and head will not change and will retain an un-armored look. This was a design decision based on 2 things: 1 limitations of the toolset, and 2 my own artistic view. I feel that fully armored minotaur just doesn't look as cool as one that's partially armored.

***  Notes  ***

These models are based on the half-orc, so animations and movement will not exactly mimic that of the standard minotaur. Some monster animations do not work at all, like the tail swishing and head butt. I am aware that the feet/hooves of the minotaur are slightly below the ground when standing still and slightly above the ground when fighting. I hope to have this fixed in another release. These models are part of a much larger effort that I hope to release by the end of the summer. Please leave me feedback for opinions and problems on the nwvault page you downloaded this from. Thank you.

*** Custom Minotaur as a playable race ***

In order to use this model as a playable race, you must either use CODI's Character Creator, or have your dungeon master set your appearance manually or by using a script. I will not go in to how to use the CODI CC as there are already tutorials on how to use it available. However, I will say that you will need to use this hak and choose "Minotaur_PC1" or "Minotaur_PC2" for your appearance.
